Practice Areas
Alberto M. Calvo, P.A., offers immigration law services for businesses and businesspeople. Our clients include startups and established businesses of all sizes, including some of the most important names in the video game and content creation industries. We also handle visas for foreign-born entrepreneurs exploring opportunities in the United States. In either case, the client has often found the right people to work with; they just need some legal help to make it happen. Our job is to provide that help, and make the process as easy on our clients—and their employees—as we can.
As part of that, we offer highly personalized service. Our clients deal directly with a lawyer, not a paralegal. Since our clients are around the world, we don’t expect you to come to us—we come to you whenever necessary. We know the visa application process is complicated, slow and sometimes frustrating, so we make ourselves highly available to visa applicants, keeping them updated on their cases and explaining the process. And lead attorney Alberto Calvo makes himself available to applicants and clients 24 hours a day, so you have our expertise at your fingertips.
Alberto Calvo has more than two decades of corporate immigration law experience, and he leads a team with similar deep backgrounds in immigration. Our team speaks English, Spanish and Portuguese fluently.
Our services include:
Business & Work Visas: We help businesses and individuals obtain temporary and permanent employment visas permitting workers to come to the United States. We also handle related matters, such as visas for accompanying family members.
Audits & Compliance: We keep our clients in good standing with federal agencies by explaining their I-9 obligations, helping to establish compliance systems and auditing those systems when necessary. When the federal government comes calling, we counsel clients on the best responses.
In addition, we offer proactive visa services for clients involved in mergers and acquisitions. This includes:
- Due diligence and risk assessment for the client’s Public Access File
- Auditing I-9 forms and identifying any problem areas that should be addressed
- Assessing PERM document retention
- Evaluating continuing work authorization for employees present in the United States on visas, and who have pending applications for immigration benefits
