Business & Work Visas

Our clients are companies that seek out the very best talent. When that talent comes from another country, they call on us to help them bring their people to the United States. We provide legal expertise, but we also strive to bring peace of mind to clients and their employees. We lift the burden of interacting with federal bureaucracies so that our clients can focus on what they do best.

Immigration Is Our Business

Alberto M. Calvo, P.A. works primarily with businesses that need help bringing skilled employees to the United States. Every case starts with an evaluation of the client’s need and the candidate’s qualifications, which permits us to develop the quickest and least expensive strategy possible for securing a visa. Because visas expire and situations change, we also develop a roadmap for ensuring the employee can stay employed as long as needed. We also ensure that related visa applications for spouses, minor children, and support personnel are processed appropriately and in a timely manner.

Our experience includes securing:

Employment-Based Nonimmigrant Visas

  • O-1 visas for workers with extraordinary ability
  • L-1 visas for intracompany transfer of managers, executives or workers with specialized knowledge
  • H-1B visas for skilled workers
  • E-1 and E-2 visas for investors and businesspeople from treaty nations
  • H-1B1 visas for Singaporean and Chilean nationals
  • TN (NAFTA) visas for Canadian and Mexican professionals
  • E-3 visas for Australian nationals in a specialty profession
  • J-1 visas for interns and trainees

Employment-Based Immigrant Visas (Permanent Residency)

  • Extraordinary ability and multinational managers/executive (EB-1);
  • Exceptional ability and advanced degree professionals, and national interest waivers (EB-2)
  • Professionals and skilled workers (EB-3)

The majority of employment-based green cards start with Labor Certification/PERM. Companies seeking to convert nonimmigrant workers to permanent employees will need to conduct a labor market test and apply to the U.S. Department of Labor for labor certification. We support our clients through this process, overseeing the steps they must complete and offering guidance and counsel. When appropriate, we also offer alternatives such as applications for national interest waivers.

We work with all kinds of businesses, as well as foreign nationals who wish to pursue business or investment opportunities in the United States. But we have especially deep experience working with companies in the digital media fields, including video games and content creators.

Personal Service

The visa process can be complex, bureaucratic and slow, creating uncertainty for businesses and, sometimes, anxiety for employees. That’s why we see personal service as an important part of our job. Throughout the case, we manage communications with the federal government, keeping our clients and their employees updated on important developments. We explain what is going on with cases at every major new development, and if employees need us in between those times, lead attorney Alberto Calvo is accessible and personally involved in every case. If an interview at an embassy or agency is necessary, we prepare the employee with information on what to expect and how to navigate the bureaucracy. Because our clients are all over the United States and the world, we come to you whenever necessary. Personnel at our firm speak Spanish and Portuguese as well as English, so we can communicate with many employees in their preferred languages. Our goal is to take the burden off our clients and their employees as much as possible.
